Rebecca's Morning of Relaxation

Evan and I invited Rebecca and Shea over to play this morning and for lunch. Rebecca is going to have a baby girl, Zoe, in October. This was a way I could help her relax by fixing lunch and letting the boys play and she could have a change of scenery. The boys had alot of fun. They mostly ran around chasing each other and laughing. They are so cute!!!!

Then we had BLT'S for lunch!!

Splish, Splash!!!!!!!!

We went to the YMCA this afternoon with Evan. They have a splash pad that is totally awesome!!! The place is really neat because it is all fenced in. They have lounge chairs for you to sit in all the way around, and also have a picnic pavilion at the back.

Evan is NOT afraid of getting his face wet at all!!

Evan and daddy playing.

And after all that fun in the sun Evan even took some time out to sunbath. ( Yeah right, he sat here for like 5 seconds!!!!)

One Hectic Week

I sit here half worn out and rather quite discouraged as the medical bills keep piling up on each other. This probably won't be the most exciting and uplifting post but I promised to write about "keeping up with Evan" which also includes the rest of the household.

There are no Pictures unfortunately. This week I worked three days in a dental office here in Columbia which I do from time to time. But my the time I am done I really am tired. It is a different kind of tired than running after Evan all day tired but more of a mental one.

The week was going pretty good. Linda ( my mother in law) came Monday to watch Evan while I worked Tues, Wed and Thurs. Tues we noticed Evan getting a runny nose and sneezing ( MY first thought is " O great, another ear infection") but seemed to really go along with the fact he is cutting teeth. So for the next several days he was sorta whiny and just not feeling too good. Then Thurs night we took Linda to Macaroni Grill for a "Thank You" dinner. While at the restaurant Evan fell, busted his lip yet again, but this time managed to chip his front tooth in the process. Being a dental hygienist I was horrified. Friday morning with not much sleep the night before we decided to take him to the DR. She agreed that his problem is from his teeth and ears look fine. Thank the Lord. She looked at his tooth and said it probably could just be smoothed some time. So the last week in July I will go work in Florence a few days and will have our dentist there see about smoothing his tooth.

Puddy is our 19 year old cat. AND also this week she developed a bad Respiratory infection. SO....took her to the vet today also. $152 later...........
Dr said she is in really bad shape and gave us antibiotics so hopefully it wont turn into pneumonia. She sounds and looks pitiful.

So as you can see we have had a week of it. Thank goodness Linda was here to help with all this but I am still worn out. All last week I was sick with this and that so I am praying this coming week will be restful for all of us. Hope you will have a good one too.

Noah's First Birthday!!!

We were invited to Noah's first birthday party, next door. Here is the birthday boy enjoying his cake.
They had a pool party of sorts and here is Evan joining in the fun.

He really loved the water coming off the slip and slide. Reminded him of yesterday going to the YMCA's Splash Pad. I forgot my camera for that so will blog on that another day.

They all had a blast with the slip and slide.

Evan was quite the tuckered out little boy when all was said and done. He is in his Mickey Mouse PJ"s Mitzi and crew next door brought him from their latest trip to Disney!!! We all had a really fun day and HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOAH!!!!!!

Evan Visits Mamama

Eric had off a good bit of the July fourth week. So in addition to going to the festivities at Darrell and Joe's, we stopped by to see Eric's grandma on the way. Evan found the horse Aunt Shelley played with as a little girl
Evan has been attached at the hip with daddy since we got back from Springfield, they both really missed each other.

Grammy, Evan and Mamama

Evan is always on the GO!!!!

We had a little while before we left for the day and daddy had found a huge bug which you can see on Evans shoulder. He didn't seem to mind it being there while he brushed his teeth!!!!

Eric's dad has built a man made stream going through their backyard, with kinda a little waterfall made with rocks at the beginning. Well, you guessed who was very excited about this as one little boy I know LOVES both rocks and water.

Evan pretty much rearranged the waterfall by the time he finished playing.

He had a ball!!!!!!

Then there was time to sit and visit with Aunt Shelley. She and her husband Shawn are moving to Denver, Colorado due to Shawn's job. We are going to miss them very much!!!!!!!!!!!! We love you Aunt Shelley and Uncle Shawn!!!!!!!

A Family Reunion Of Sorts

We were invited to Aunt Darrell and Uncle Joe's house for July fourth. Darrell is Eric's dad's sister. They have a beautiful home in North Carolina. Their two sons and their families were going to be there whom we had not seen in a very long time. Eric's sister Shelley was also able to come from Richmond, VA. So it was a reunion of sorts. There was so much food and fun we hated to leave when it was time. Of course Evan had a ball.

Eric and I were able to enjoy each others company a little bit since we had all kinds of babysitters. : )

Evan and I at the front of the house.

Evan and Eric enjoying the view.

Cousin Jody tickling Evan.

Evan finally getting to enjoy his fourth of July hot dog!!!!!!

Evan and papa rode the elevator that is in the house.

We had so much fun. Thank you Darrell and Joe for such wonderful hospitality. It was great to see everyone.

Evan's First Attempt With A Fork and Spoon

Evan is learning how to eat with a fork and spoon. We think he does pretty well.

Of course getting his food EVERYWHERE is still a requirement!!!!!

Evan vs. Sidewalk Chalk

I first need to start this blog out by telling you about Evan's recent Dr's appt. We went for his 18 month check-up the other day. When you arrive you are given a questionaire. This questionaire has questions asking you mostly whether or not your child can do certain things. This I guess helps the Dr. to evaluate your child and his/her progress. Well, we were sailing through all the questions when I got to around #12. Does your child scribble with a crayon? I was a little bit dumb founded by this qeustion because I really have never given Evan a crayon to try it. We have gone to a resteraunt or two that gave him some which he proceeded to eat so I was like.....he's not ready for that!! Well apparently I should have been working with him on that. So I was kind of anxious when our name was called to go back to see the Dr. Had I failed the test??? O dear what would she say???? Well first thing she did when she came through the door was put some paper down on the floor and gave Evan a pen and said " scribble Evan." He looked at her and proceded to chew the pen. O MY!!! She said we really needed to work on this. Ok, so with that we have bought crayons which he still insists upon eating. So I decided to try sidewalk chalk and it was a hit. Notice though the box says age 4 +!! Should my 18 month old really already know how to scribble? Well, maybe, I don't know but, by golly when we go for our 2 year check up this Dr. is going to be impressed with our skills!!!!!!
He really actually liked it and only once put it to his mouth. I told him no and he never tried again.

We had to go over that the garage door and daddy's and mommy's car were not an option for scribbling.

But see, he can scribble so we aren't doing so bad after all. I just had to give him a great big tool to use.

Then of course he just had to check them all out at once. We both were covered in chalk when we were finished but we really had a lot of fun. All in all his Dr. visit was good and if this was our only downfall we are doing great, right!!!! By the way Evan is now 28 pounds 12 oz, 34 inches tall.

A Sad Day For The Tomatos

This update is mostly for Melanie who specifically asked for one, and it is with great sadness that I have to say the tomatos are not doing well. We are not sure what is happening really. Two of the plants actually have tomatos but the leaves are all turning yellow and do not appear to be happy. Eric has tries to research on what the deal might be only to discover others have the problem also and noone knows what to do. Could be the HOT South Carolina sun, type of tomato just doesn't like hanging upside down, too much or too little water, who knows. We are still plugging along though and babying them. hopefully we can get a couple tomatos just to make all that work a little worthwhile.
My potted tomato plant on the other hand is doing quite nicely

Then there is our neighbors garden..........I should have taken a picture of the whole garden. It is impressive to say the least. They are away for a week at Disney World ( poor things) and said for us please to raid their garden. They have got sooooo many tomato's that will be ready soon, zucchini as pictured here, cucumbers, beans, corn, and the list goes on!!!! So Eric is in making zucchini bread for the block as I am writing this. He has really mastered the making of zucchini bread even though he will tell you he doesn't like to bake. He would rather be making up some exotic sauce to go over linguine with scallops. Or something like that. Anyway, don't know if the tomato's will make it but hey, you gotta try, right??
